Yong "Jackie" Cha Cole

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jackie “Yong Cha” Cole on January 28, 2025, at the age of 81. Jackie was born on December 15, 1943 and originally hails from South Korea before becoming a long time resident of Lancaster, Ohio where she settled with her beloved late husband, Franklin Lee Cole.

Jackie worked at a local shoe factory for many years and then enjoyed her retirement gardening, cooking, visiting family and attending church where she remained a devout Christian. She was known for her generosity and strong will in addition to her many talents ranging from being a fantastic cook to crocheting. Her love knew no end and her kindness was abundant. Having had no children of her own, she blessed her nieces by being a second mother to them with her love and nurture; leaving an immense impact on their lives. 

She is survived by her nieces, Christina Chang, Frances Chang, Marcella Johansen (née Chang), Lucy Chang; great nieces, Adeline Johansen, Amelia “Yong Cha” Hawthorn; and her faithful bestfriend, Pyon Fugitt.

Jackie “Yong Cha” Cole will forever reside in our hearts. Her legacy will live on through her many acts of kindness that have forged everlasting memories and will serve as an inspiration for time to come. As we mourn the loss of her life, we take comfort that she is at peace in heaven and overjoyed at her reunion with Frank who she remained devoted and in love with to the very end.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2024, at SWICK BENTLEY FUNERAL HOME in New Boston.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.
