Wilma Jean Atkins

Wilma Jean Atkins, 77, of Portsmouth passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at SOMC Hospice. She was born February 9, 1945 in Portsmouth to the late Adolf and Ruth (Ratliff) Sowards. Wilma spent her life taking care of her home and her family whom she dearly loved. She loved to crochet, go shopping, can garden vegetables, and do word search puzzles. The family would like to thank SOMC HOSPICE for the wonderful care they provided Wilma in her last days.
Wilma is survived by four grandchildren, Ian Watkins and wife Andy of Tennessee, Cody Watkins and wife Desirea of Canal Winchester, Joseph Watkins of Alabama, and Owen Atkins Plumlee of Portsmouth. She has several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Wilma was also preceded in death by her husband, Dorcey Atkins; a daughter, Beth Atkins; and12 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Universal Cemetery in Rubyville with Pastor Brian Baer officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
