Virginia Joan (Smith) Sparks

Age 77 of Portsmouth passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at her residence. She was born April 12, 1939 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Robert and Virgie Ann Nolan Smith. She was a member of North Moreland Christian Baptist Church, a graduate of Portsmouth West High School, and loved photography, ceramics, and all animals.

She is survived two sons, Jeff Sparks and Teresa Fisher of Portsmouth and Danny (Carrie) Sparks of Grove City; one sister, Carol (Gary) Aeh of Portsmouth; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sparks on January 30, 2016; a brother, Buddy Smith; and a sister, Wanda Sampson.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Paul Hagen officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park.
