Violet (Long) Brandenburg

Age 90, of North Moreland, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born July 10, 1925 in Greenup County, KY, a daughter of the late Charles Roy Long and Lillian Brown Long. Violet was of the Baptist faith, was a homemaker, and above all, a beloved mom and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois Hoover, with whom she lived; two sons, Douglas Hudson, of Lucasville, and Delbert (Becky) Hudson, of South Shore, KY; a brother, Raymond (Alice) Long, of Chillicothe; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James W. Brandenburg, in 1987; sisters, June Long, Ann Kowalski, and Bonnie Kellum; brothers, John, Charles, and Lawson Long; grandson, James “Bub” Hoover; and her former husband, Ray Hudson.

Funeral services will be noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston, with Pastor Bob Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
