Age 74 of New Boston died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Southern Ohio Hospice in Portsmouth He was born May 25, 1941 in Greenup County, Kentucky to Leonard R. and Garnet (Springer) Stone He was a registered Cherokee Indian, member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge # 48 and retired from Empire Detroit Steel as a brick mason He then worked for New Boston Coke and continued being a self - employed brick mason He loved fishing, spending time with his family, and also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force
He is survived by one son, Rodney Duane Stone (fiancé Helen Diamond) of Friendship; 2 daughters, Leanne Stone (life partner Barbara Singleton) of Wilmington, Kimberly Powell (Shawn Duff) of Portsmouth; 3 brothers, Leonard Stone and Billy Stone, both of West Virginia, Wesley Stone of Kentucky; 2 sisters, Ruth Houf of West Virginia and Vicky Forman of West Virginia; grandchildren, Christopher Stone (Natalia), Mathew Auger (Heather), Kyle Auger; 2 great-grandchildren, River Arbalaez Stone, Parker David Auger He was preceded in death by his wife (Theresa “Terri”); brothers, Earl Stone, Wayne Stone; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Wanda Adkins, Beatrice Bricker.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 at D.W. SWICK – NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Peter Michael officiating Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace with James Dickey Post #23 American Legion providing military honors Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. where a masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Online condolences may be sent to www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
