Robert L. Stiltner, fondly known as Bob, departed this life on January 7, 2025, at SOMC Hospice, at the age of 85. Born on August 8, 1939, in Highland Bend, Ohio, Bob lived a life rich in service, faith, and love.

For many years, Bob dedicated himself to his vocation as a mechanic, bringing skill and care to every task he undertook. Yet, it was perhaps his role as  retired pastor of Victory Tabernacle in West Portsmouth that defined much of his legacy. A devoted minister for 64 years, Bob loved the Lord, relishing in the opportunity to preach God’s word and connect with his congregation. His passion for faith extended into every aspect of his life, and it inspired those around him to deepen their own beliefs.

Bob's warm heart was matched only by the love he shared with his wife of 66 years, Roxie (Sparks) Stiltner, whom he wed on September 15, 1958. Together, they built a beautiful family that will always cherish the memories of the time spent with him. Bob is survived by their daughters, Gail and Alan Lee of Sciotoville, Denise Ingles of McDermott, Adam and Ida Knight of Morganton, NC, Ruth and Marty McGlone of West Portsmouth, and Juanita Boldman and Duane of McDermott. He also leaves behind his brothers, David and Ebba Stiltner of Lucasville, Jesse and Dee Stiltner of Arizona, and Harold Dean Stiltner of Vandalia, Ohio, along with twelve beloved grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren who will carry his spirit forward.

Bob was not just a man of faith but also a lover of life’s small joys. He found great pleasure in shopping, a passion for collecting hats, and spending countless hours in front of the television. He cherished delightful outings, particularly visits to the Amish in Jackson, Ohio, where he appreciated simple pleasures and community.

In a life marked by dedication and service, Bob also proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, embodying the spirit of duty and commitment. His membership with the American Legion in Minford, VFW 3638, and DAV 34 in Wheelersburg reflected his support for his fellow veterans and an unwavering love for his country.

Though he is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Ida (Smith) Stiltner; brothers James and Bill Stiltner; and sisters Elizabeth Stiltner, Lucille Spradlin, Grace Adams, Ruth Stafford, and Maria Stiltner-Eldridge; as well as three sons-in-law - Rick Sparks, Bobby Boldman, and Donald Ingles Sr. - his legacy will remain eternal in the hearts of those he touched.

The family invites you to honor and celebrate Bob's life during visitation at Swick Bentley Funeral Home in New Boston, OH on January 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and again on January 10, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on January 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Adam Knight officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Old Wheelersburg Cemetery in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

As we remember Bob, let us carry forth his kindness, faith, and the love for family that he so effortlessly instilled in those around him. He has gone home to be with the Lord, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light for us all.
