Robert R. Sparks

Age 79 of Portsmouth passed away Saturday Jan. 30, 2016 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born Nov. 12, 1936 in Oak Hill, a son of the late Russell and Lexie Edwards Sparks. Robert and his wife were the former owners of Sparks Produce. He loved the outdoors, camping, and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Smith Sparks; two sons, Jeff Sparks of Portsmouth and Danny (Carrie) Sparks of Grove City; two brothers, Dennis (Joyce) Sparks of Wheelersburg and Russ Sparks of Florida; three sisters, Barbara (Frank) Carver of Eden Park, Jean Hamilton of New Boston and Linda (Chuck) Dixon of Indiana; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Willis Sparks and a sister, Jo Eckhart.

Services will be 1:00 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016  at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Phillip Ruark officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park.
