Age 72, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth He was born July 12, 1944 in Wheeling, WV to Thomas and Virginia (Duncan) Piatt He was a 1963 graduate of Clay High School, was a member of the Clay Athletic Boosters, and honorably served his country in the Army achieving the rank of Sergeant E5 Robert worked as an Electrician and Millwright and was a member of Local Union 1090 He enjoyed golfing, going to car auctions and flea markets, UK basketball, serving for many years as an assistant coach for the Clay High School Golf Team, and watching his grandkids play in any sport.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon (Leslie) Piatt; daughters, Kelly Bussler of Portsmouth, Teresa (Scott) Vassar of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Chelsea Beegan of Lexington, KY, Cody Bussler of Portsmouth, Shaelyn Vassar of Portsmouth; sisters, Patricia Keller of Pataskala, Lavonne (Bonnie) Bertolo of Citrus Springs, FL, Denise Martin of Portsmouth; brother, Thomas (Butch) Piatt of Portsmouth; sister and brother-in-laws, Kenneth and Cathy Lowe, Patricia and John Bauereiss, Paul and Eunice Leslie He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends In addition to his parents Thomas and Virginia, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Livingston and Janie Monk; father and mother-in-law Ralph and Ruth Leslie; sister-in-law, Janet Brown; brother-in-law, Mike Horton.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 8, 2017 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Rev. Steve Phipps officiating Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg with military rites provided by James Dickey Post #23, American Legion Friends may call Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
