Richard Wesley Smith, Jr

Richard Wesley Smith, Jr. 81, of Rosemount died Tuesday March 26, 2013 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born June 6, 1931 in New Boston a son of the late Richard W. Smith and Gladys Freemont Smith. He was a 1949 graduate of Glenwood High School, was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was retired from Goodyear Atomic Corp. and attended Christ Community Church. He is survived by a son, Brian K. Smith of Givens, W.Va.; 2 daughters, Leigh Ann Smith of Portsmouth and Jill Elaine Adkins of West Portsmouth; a brother, Larkin Ralph Smith of Colorado Springs, CO.; a sister, Glenna Ann Smith of Wheelersburg; grandchildren, Misty Bryant, Benjamin Adkins, Chase Adkins, Felicia Letharp, Tiffany Smith, Brianna Smith and Kyle Smith; great-grandchildren, Gracie Letharp, Olivia Letharp, Chloe Bryant, Chase Bryant, Ajay Cruz Adkins and Kyra Adkins. Richard was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Cornwell Smith whom he married July 2, 1954 and a sister, Phyllis Semones. Services will be 1:00 PM Friday March 29, 2013 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Pastor Ralph Clay officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park with military rites by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
