Ramona Lucille Penix

Ramona Lucille Penix, age 82, of New Boston died August 22, 2023 at Hillview Nursing Home in Portsmouth.  She was born October 27, 1940 in Wheelersburg, Ohio.  The daughter of the late Gaylen Ashley and Ruth Pyles Ashley.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married July 7, 1963, Ralph Penix on September 28, 2005; her father and mother and sister Joanne Mae Ashley; also a son-in-law Danny Carver.  She was a member of Nile Community Church. She was also a loving mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Great-great-grandmother.  She loved to crochet, and give the afghans to her family.  Ramona is survived by her children, four daughters, Karen Cooper and husband John of West Portsmouth, Ruth Justice and husband Steve of Portsmouth, Gail Smith and husband Chuck of Portsmouth, Susan Zeno and husband Edwin of Portsmouth; one son, Mark Penix and wife Amy of Columbus, Ohio. 13 grandchildren, Randy, Christy, Lexi, Virginia, Emily, Cody, Tyler, Austin, Christopher, Brandon, Katelyn, Matthew, Brooke, Becky, Joey and Jamie; 16 great-grandchildren:  one Great-great-grandchild, Nehemiah; one sister, Faye Bennett; four brothers, Donald, Dave, Gaylen Ashley all of Wheelersburg and Gearald Ashley of Minford.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Dan Smalley officiating.  Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
