Ralph "Wayne" VanDeusen, 75, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1935, in RedKey, Ind., son of the late Charles and Fern Mendenhall VanDeusen. He formerly worked at Harbison Walker and was a well known barber at Shorties Barber Shop. Wayne is survived by three sons, Kent (Lisa) VanDeusen of Portsmouth, Joe (Donna) VanDeusen of Wheelersburg, and Jeff VanDeusen of Canal Winchester; one daughter, Robin (Scott) VanDeusen-Strong of Forestville, Cal; a special friend, Reva Harper of Portsmouth; two brothers, Fred VanDeusen of Fla., and Gail VanDeusen of Muncie, Ind.; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Jason, Jessica, and Jenna; one great-grandchild, Kaylee; his beloved dog Sadie; and his friend and caregiver Joe Taylor of Portsmouth. Services will be 10 AM, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at D.W. Swick in New Boston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sierra's Haven, 80 Easter Dr. Ports., Oh, or to Evangelistic Outreach Ministries, P.O. Box 56 Pedro, Oh 45659.
