Paul retired from Empire Detroit Steel in 1993. Before he was employed with the steel mill he worked on the New Boston Police Department. After Paul graduated from High School he served in the United States Air Force in Roswell, New Mexico for four years. Paul served on the New Boston Board of Education for seventeen years. In 2012 Paul received his fifty year Mason pin.

Paul is also survived by his Brother-in-law Hap Lawson and Niece Tammy Nelson and her husband Fred along with his Great Niece and Nephew Amy and Michael Nelson and a niece, Kristin Tolle. Paul enjoyed sharing the good news of the Gospel, sitting on the front porch with his wife, playing contract rumee with his grandchildren, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and eating dinners with his family more than anything else in the world. Paul's love for his favorite scripture was shard with his granddaughter's and was recited regularly by the whole family: "Cast your cares upon Him, for he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7. Paul's strong, vibrant and beautiful spirit and love touched everyone he interacted with and will now continue to live on through his wife, children, grandchildren and all of those he touched through his life. He was proceeded in death by his Father and Mother Arnold and Tilley Ruark, sister Dot Lawson and brother Jerry Ruark. Paul will deeply be missed but we know for certain that he is feasting at the Lord's table and celebrating with God.
