Paul R. "Hawgie" Gaines

Paul R. “Hawgie” Gaines, 66, of Portsmouth passed away peacefully at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth.  He was born June 1, 1958 to the late David and Linda (Newsome) Gaines in Portsmouth.  Paul loved racing, enjoyed racing go-carts and riding motorcycles.  Paul was a jokester and loved joking around with his children and nieces and nephews.  He loved his exotic animals and his dog, Baby.

Paul is survived by a son, Jason Gaines of Portsmouth; two brothers, Carlton Gaines of Portsmouth, and Harrison Gaines and wife Karen of Reynoldsburg; a sister, Mary Hoover and husband Ronald of Portsmouth; nieces and nephews, Courtney Gaines of Portsmouth, Danielle Stiltner of Lucasville, Cynthia Deberry of Chattanooga, TN, Dylan Taylor of Portsmouth, Alexandria Taylor of Portsmouth; and an aunt, Gwen. In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Gaines, Timothy Gaines, and Dennis Gaines, a sister, Cheryl Gaines and a nephew, Carlton “Wesley” Gaines Jr.
