On Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at 11:49 pm, Patricia Sue (Taylor) Picklesimer, 80 years young, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Mom transferred her long-term membership from the Harrisonville Avenue Church of God in New Boston to her eternal heavenly home with her Lord. While she was here, she was a dedicated Christian who served Christ by serving others. She enjoyed organizing and distributing food to those in need for the church food pantry, teaching Sunday School, visiting the shut-ins, and cooking for the children and adults during Bible School.
Mom enjoyed sharing her Christian faith and giving spirit through her employment with Reitz Music Store, Southern Hills Hospital, and SOMC, where she retired. Mom loved reading, traveling, and finding adventures everywhere she went. Mom’s favorite pastime of all was spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren, and taking care of those around her. Mom spent a lifetime pouring love into her family and friends. She was a cherished mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, Mam-Mam, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known for the healing power of her homemade potato soup.
Mom was born on March 12, 1944 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Della Taylor. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Gene Picklesimer, as well as five brothers and sisters; Ronnie (Patty) Taylor, Joyce (Raymond) Johnson, Roger Taylor, Kay (Ken) Price, and Shelby Taylor (infant).
Mom is survived by her loving daughters, Kathy (Joseph) Amburgey and Kelli (Frelon) Sparks, along with her precious grandchildren, Joe (Julia) Amburgey, Paisley Sparks, and Madison Sparks, who were her pride and joy and best buddies. Mom was looking forward to being a great grandma soon. She was, also, survived by two brothers, Pete (Tressie) Taylor, and Marlon (Renee) Taylor, as well as a very special niece and great-niece, Angie & Kacy Harris, who were a constant blessing in her life. She is survived by a large loving extended family.
There will be no parade in her honor, news break, front-page article, flags lowered, nor Lie In-State. She would not have wanted those things anyway. Those blessed enough to have known our mother would know that she was a quiet servant of the Lord and to her family. Instead, mom had requested only a Celebration of life at the Swick-Bentley Funeral Home in New Boston, Ohio. The service will begin promptly at 1:00, followed by burial at Sunset Gardens in Franklin Furnace. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, 2 Timothy 4:7.
Mom always looked for the good and beauty in the world. She never had a cross word to say about anyone. Mom was a beautiful soul and will be forever missed. To say we loved her is an understatement! We adored her and will never be the same without her. Only with God’s help will we be able to keep moving forward at this time. With great love, comes great loss. Mom, we love you forever!
We extend our immense gratitude and appreciation to SOMC Hospice, and to all of the family and friends who have provided prayers, food and support during this most difficult time. Memorial contributions can be made in Mom’s name to The Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund
(www.stevenshopefund.org), a program that provides essential food and necessities to area children. Mom loved and supported this program, and her giving spirit can live on through your generosity.
