Ollie A. Whisman, 83, of New Boston died Sat. Feb. 25, 2012 at Best Care Reabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 9, 1928 in New Boston, a son of the late David Crocket Whisman and Maggie Rodgers Whisman. He retired from the City of Portsmouth, Maintinance Dept. and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by a son, Charles Whisman; daughters, Andrea (Bert) Blevins and Rhonda (William Jr.) Bowling 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several neices and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Adkins Whisman, brothers, Rufford, Carl and Charles Whisman; sisters, Hazel, Stella, Clara, Edna and Martha. Services will be 1 PM Tues. Feb. 28, 2012 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Sam Salyer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military graveside honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday 11 AM to 1 PM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
