Monte Dale Shewman

Monte D. Shewman, 82, of Lucasville, went to be with the Lord on Friday July 14, 2023 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born September 12, 1940 to the late Martin and Viola Shewman. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his nephew, Chris Shewman. Monte was a United States Navy Veteran. He was also a Sargent with the Ohio State Highway Patrol where he retired. He then was employed at Martin Marietta Enrichment Plant as a Security Guard and as a member of the SWAT Team for about 15 years. He then worked part-time as a Driving Instructor at AAA. He also attended Hillcross Church of God in South Portsmouth, KY. Monte is survived by his wife, Naomi Shewman whom he married on May 15, 1983 in Dayton, OH; a son, Gary Shewman; a brother, Larry (Rita) Shewman; a stepson Robert (Theresa) Clausing; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Zeigler, Gregory (Margie) Clausing, Kelly (Ryan) Keough, Ashlee Shewman and Jesse Shewman; nephews, Jordan Howard and Eli Leisring; nieces, Kim (Steve) Davis, Bobbie (Dan) Rosen and several great- great-grandchildren; sisters in-law, Elizabeth (James) Normand, Priscella (Dan) Howard and Hazel Leisring. The family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to SOMC Hospice staff, the Ohio Highway Patrol and to the many friends and neighbors that offered there assistance. The family will receive friends on Saturday July 22, 2023 at the Hillcross Church of God, 73 School House Rd in South Portsmouth, Ky from 12 Noon to 1 PM with funeral services following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Wesley Buck officiating.
