Mickey Ray Sturgill, 67, of Franklin Furnace, died Wed. Oct. 27, 2010 at home surrounded by his family and his special caregiver, Lorena. He was born Dec. 29, 1942 in Baltimore, MD., a son of the late Farris and Jean Williams Sturgill. He had served in the U.S. Navy, was a former truck driver and member of the New Boston Eagles, Teamsters Union and the Tennessee Walking Horse Assoc. Mickey is survived by a daughter, Melissa Sturgill-Lucas and husband Steve of Delaware; a granddaughter, Crystal; a sister, Bonnie Grimm of Portsmouth; 3 brothers, Zane Sturgill, Barry Grimm and William Grimm both of New Boston; 2 uncles, John and Jack Williams and many other friends. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon "Tammy" Sturgill and a son, Michael Sturgill. Services will be 1 PM Sat., Oct. 30, 2010 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor George Vastine officiating. Burial will be at Rushtown cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 6 to 8 PM and Saturday 12 to 1 PM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
