Melvin Richard Skaggs

Melvin Richard Skaggs Sr. "Dicky", 66, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday December 27, 2023 at his home.  He was born on June 24, 1957 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Henry C. and Myrtle Wylodyne (Moore) Skaggs.  Melvin enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved making art.  Melvin loved his grandchildren and he loved taking care of them.  Melvin enjoyed playing video games and watching movies.  He was a good mechanic and enjoyed working on cars, even though he tried to let on like he didn't.  He also enjoyed music and going to concerts.

Melvin is survived by three sons, Melvin Skaggs Jr. and wife Lisa of Portsmouth, Jason Edward Skaggs of Wadsworth, Ohio, Micheal Richard Skaggs of Wadsworth, Ohio; two brothers, Charles Roy Skaggs of Portsmouth, Patrick Alan Skaggs of Cleveland; two sisters, Eda Loreene Skaggs Cole Byrd of Ashville, Ohio and Ethel Sue Howard of Portsmouth; a half sister, Annella Kay Skaggs of Illinois; and three grandchildren, Jayden Keyth McKenzie, Caleb Michael McKenzie, and Tyler Layne McKenzie.  He was preceded in death by five brothers, Orin Douglas Skaggs, Brian Peragreeno Skaggs, Henry James Skaggs, Anthony "Tony" Francis Skaggs, and William Kendrick Skaggs; and a sister, Melody Lucretia Asbell.
