Marilyn Jean Hiles, 75, of Sugar Grove, OH passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. She was born January 2, 1945 on Columbus, OH. She attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from South High School. She married Larry Lee Hiles in June of 1964 and she would proudly and frequently tell anyone who would listen (even complete strangers), "I have the Best Husband!" She worked for many years for the United States Postal Service and was the first full-time female postal carrier in Portsmouth, OH. She was a longstanding member of New Boston First Church of the Nazarene where she served several years as the Church Secretary and many years as a Vacation Bible School Worker. She loved her Church Family! Marilyn loved fishing, playing cards, scrapbooking and watching Ohio State Football (especially when they beat TTUN!) but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She especially loved being Mammaw and she had a gift of making each grandchild feel loved and cherished with frequent sleepovers, trips to Walmart (don't tell Pappaw!), tea parties and baking/cooking together. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Martha Leslein, her parents-in-law, George and Phyllis Hiles, three brothers, Frank Leslein, Jack Leslein and Dennis Leslein and one sister, Linda Rice. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Larry Hiles of Sugar Grove, OH, two sons, Larry (Rose) Hiles Jr. of Winchester, KY and James (Jennifer) Hiles of Sugar Grove, OH, one daughter, Laura (Anthony) Warnick of Catlettsburg, KY, six grandchildren, Catherine Kazee, Donald "Buddy" Kazee, Nathaniel Kazee, Justin Hiles, AJ Hiles and Vivian Hiles and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Butch Rice and George Hiles, four sisters-in-law, Addie Leslein, Shirley Leslein, Rushie Leslein and Wanda Hiles and seven nephews and nine nieces. Services will be 4 PM Thursday January 7, 2021 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Mikeal Lanning officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM prior to the services. A second service will be 2 PM Friday January 8, 2021 in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, OH under the direction of the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME. Face coverings are required.
