Age 70 of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at SOMC Hospice Center He was born September 10, 1946 in Portsmouth to Luther and Vesta (Blevins) Holsinger Luther was a 1965 graduate of Glenwood High School and served his country in the United States Air Force He worked at Empire Detroit Steel, was a retired maintenance man for Shawnee State University as well as Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth Luther was a member of the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Boston, the New Boston Eagles, and American Legion Post #23 He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, woodworking, watching sports, and loved being outdoors.

Luther is survived by his wife, Cindy (Thurman) Holsinger, whom he married August 4, 1978 in Portsmouth; a son, Eric (Sheli) Holsinger of Columbus; a special brother, Tony (Nancy) Perkins of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Pam (Larry) Pennington of Portsmouth, Lorene (David) Heath of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Eric and Erin Holsinger; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Spence, Geraldine Sexton, Mildred Perkins, and Dretia Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m Thursday, August 24, 2017 at D.W. SWICK – NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Gary Heimbach officiating Friends may call Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral.
