Lester Adams

Lester G. Adams, 88, of New Boston died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Heartland of Portsmouth. He was born June 26, 1921 in New Boston, a son of the late George and Melissa Mault Adams. He was a graduate of Rio grande College where he played basketball, was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in WW II; was a member of James Dickey Post 23, American Legion and Disabled Veterans. Lester was a former teacher and retired in 1990 from the New Boston School District with 37 years service. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rice Adams whom he married on November 9, 1946 in Portsmouth; one son, Dr. Aaron Adams and wife Kathy of Wheelersburg;one daughter, Angela See and husband Steve of Wheelersburg; one brother, Paul Adams and wife Nell of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Aaron Adams, Amanda (Chris) Skiver, Dr. Ashley See-Pfeiffer and husband Marchen and Jessica (Ryan) Harrah; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hannah and Sydney Skiver. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lou Adams and a brother, Dr. Roy Adams. Services will be 12 Noon Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Gary Heimbach officiating. Burial will be at Old Wheelersburg cemetery with military graveside honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
