Age 82 of Fairview Heights, IL, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL He was born September 22, 1935 in New Boston and spent his career in the U.S. Army Larry served one tour of duty in Korea and three tours in Vietnam His first assignment was as an infantryman and he followed this with assignments in military intelligence He became a non-commissioned officer and retired as a pharmacy tech at the John Cochran Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Larry was a member of the Gothic Masonic Lodge 852 A.F. and A.M and the American Legion Post 978, both of Fairview Heights, IL He enjoyed his visits to Lake of the Ozarks and Branson, MO where he loved to fish He loved visiting with family, friends, and neighbors and spending time with his dogs, Charlie and Buddy.
Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan (Loney) Fisher, who he married on November 10, 1964; son, Glenn (Kay) Williams of Camdenton, MO; granddaughter, Bobbie Jean (Jeb) Pearson of Bakersfield, CA; sister-in-law, Nelly Fisher of New Boston; numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by a son, Paul W. Williams; his father, Baker D. Fisher; his mother, Iva P. (Hay) Fisher Boggs; his stepfather, Charlie Boggs; and his siblings Dennis, Edith, Easter, Clohe, and Tilly.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Gary Heimbach officiating Burial with military honors will follow at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott Friends may call from 12 – 2 p.m. before the service at the funeral home Online condolences may be shared at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
