Joyce Ann Elrod

Joyce Ann Elrod, 90, of Stout, passed away Saturday February 25, 2023, at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born December 27, 1932, in New Boston, a daughter of the late Dewran Jacob Bryant and Elizabeth Rachel (Brown) Bryant. She was a cook at the former Lindsey and North Moreland Schools. She went on to get her LPN license and worked at area hospitals before retiring from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. In her earlier years, Joyce helped her husband build four houses. She enjoyed baking pies and apple dumplings, making cross-stitch samplers and blankets for babies, playing the piano, watching Jeopardy and mowing the grass. Joyce is survived by a son, Tim Elrod of Portsmouth; a daughter, Catherine Liddle of West Portsmouth; daughter-in-law, Janice Elrod of Stout; grandchildren, Dewran, Michael and Michelle, Jonathan and Johnathan "Chip", Shawnda (Matthew), Elizabeth Rose, and a special granddaughter Amanda Cooper and six great-grandsons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Elrod, and a son Steven D. Elrod, two brothers, Leon and Lester Bryant. Funeral Services will be 12 Noon Thursday March 2, 2023, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Rick Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Scioto Burial Park.
