Joy Cope

Joy Cope, 91, of West Portsmouth died Thurs., July 23, 2009 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born May 9, 1918 in Portsmouth, OH., a daughter of the late Clarence and Phynetta Wright Kitchen. She was a homemaker and member of Wings of Healing Worship Center in West Portsmouth and the DAV of Cincinnati. Joy is survived by three sons, Jerry L. Piatt of Newport News, VA., John R. Piatt of San Diago, CA. and William W. Cope of Thomson, GA.; one daughter, Linda Holsinger of West Portsmouth; two sisters, Ferne Monk of West Portsmouth and Carolyn Chaffin of Maloneton, KY.; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Roy Kitchen; two sisters, Lois Oseton and Linda Kitchen. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, July 27, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Rev. J.R. Holsinger and Pastor Chuck Holsinger officiating. Burial will be at Mershon Cemetery.
