Joy C. Burns

Joy C. Burns, 81, of Portsmouth, died Sunday August 4, 2013 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born December 19, 1931 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late William and Nora Bell Travis Williams. She is survived by a son, William H. Burns and wife Patricia of Portsmouth; three daughters, Brenda Lewis of Portsmouth, Cheryl Hammonds and husband Charles of Wheelersburg and Cindy Messer and husband Charles of Franklin Furnace; one brother, Junior Williams of New Boston; one sister, Lana Loper of New Boston; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Burns, a brother, Roy Williams and a sister, Wilma Clifford. Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday August 7, 2013 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Gerald Penix officiating. Interment will be at Mount Zion cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
