Age 64 of New Boston passed away Wednesday December 7, 2016 at home. He was born August 11, 1952 in Cleveland, a son of the late John H. and Edith (Taylor) Steele. Johnnie was an Auctioneer and Owner of Steele’s Auctions of Wheelersburg, was a former Insurance Agent with Nationwide Insurance, a claims Adjuster for River City Claims, owner of National Four Wheel Drive in Wheelersburg, and owner of Property Damage Appraisal Services. He was a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge # 91 in Wheelersburg, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and member of the El Hasa Shrine. Johnnie was Past President of James Dickey Post 23, American Legion, served in the U.S Army during Viet Nam, was a member of American Legion # 471, the New Boston Eagles, Past President of the Portsmouth Motorcycle Club, and was a New Boston Councilman. He graduated from Glenwood High School, attended Shawnee State University, and earned an Associate Business Degree at Ohio University.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Steele (Becky) and grandson Parker Steele all of New Boston; a brother Richard (Nancy) Steele of Waverly and a sister, Johna Sue Linley of Columbus; the children of Becky Darby, Jake and Jessie. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Bryan Keith Steele.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday December 12, 2016 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Mark Bales officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park with Military Honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
