John W. Cook

John W. Cook, 55, of Portsmouth passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born September 16, 1968 to the late James Cook Sr. and Nancy (Shoemaker) Lockert. John was a family man and loved getting together with family. He enjoyed fishing, as well as bowling and playing cards. He was a hard worker and loved his work.
John is surivived by his mother, Nancy Lockert of Portsmouth; four brothers, Albert Cook, Roy Cook, Leslie Cook, Joe Cook and wife Brandy all of Portsmouth; four sisters Jeannie Scalf of Portsmouth, Connie Mills of Ironton, Wanda Evans of Portsmouth, and Ida Noel of Wheelersburg; and very good friend of the family, Randall Munyon of Portsmouth. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by a brother, James Cook Jr.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Saturday, February 17, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Danny Deck officiating. Interment will follow at Scioto Furnace Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (NOON) on Saturday at the funeral home.
