Joan Elizabeth Livingston

Joan Elizabeth Cline Livingston went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born February 2, 1930, the daughter of the late Lytle and Grace Burris Cline in Danville, Kentucky. She graduated from Danville High School in 1947. She held nursing degrees from Anderson College and Johns Hopkins University. She married David Livingston, MD in Baltimore, Maryland on June 12, 1951. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death in 2010. She served with her husband as a medical missionary in Kenya, East Africa from 1956 to 1967. She was a visiting health nurse in Rochester, New York during David's medical school years and was his office nurse during his practice in Portsmouth. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dale Andrew Livingston and an infant daughter, Anita Sue Livingston. She was the youngest of four siblings, Ethel Smallwood, Lytle Cline and Gene Cline who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Susan) Livingston, Kenneth (Lori) Livingston and Beth (Jason) Throckmorton. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason (Stacy) Livingston, David (Jerri) Livingston, Josuha Livingston, Justin (Chonda) Williams, Dale Livingston Jr., Kenneth (Kristen) Livingston, Devin Mitchell, Logan Livingston, Hunter Livingston, and Sarah Throckmorton and her great grandchildren, Jenna, Joy, Cyndi, Emily, Connor, Drew, Noah, Liam and Wesley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joan taught Sunday school for many years at the First Church of God in New Boston. She loved and served her Lord all of her days and her strong faith was a witness to all. Her proudest accomplishment was her family and she was a firm foundation and loving guide to them. "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."...Give her the reward she has earned and let her works bring her praise." Proverbs 31:28,31. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday May 31, 2014 at First Church of God in New Boston with Rev. Greg Pennington officiating with interment to follow at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Friday 6 to 8 PM at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
