Jerry Marcus Lyles, 69, of South Shore, KY. passed away Sept. 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with a rare neurological disease. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lewis Lyles; one son, Jason Lyles (Kristin) of South Shore; two daughters, Jodi Eaton (David) of Little Rock, AR. and Julie Higgins (Devin) of Louisville, KY.; two step-children, Cami Stevens (Dave) of Morehead, KY. and Chad Cooper of Chicago, IL.; one brother, Dave Lyles of Dade City, FL.; three grandchildren, Breckland Higgins, Sophie Stevens and Jace Lyles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Gladys Boggs Lyles; two brothers, Ronald Lyles and William Dean Lyles. Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was always positive and in great spirits, even at his lowest. He worked for GTE/Verizon for 35 years until his illness forced him to retire. He loved sports and enjoyed many years of coaching. An Air Force Veteran who loved his country, he enjoyed reading mystery novels, playing the guitar, watching John Wayne Westerns, attending church and watching his grandkids grow. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Services will be 1:00 PM Monday Sept. 8, 2014 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Pastors Raymond Lewis and Gary Heimbach officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park with military honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
