Jerry J. Adkins, 90, of Wheelersburg passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg. He was born September 24, 1933 to the late Earl and Dorothy (Springer) Adkins in Wheelersburg. Jerry loved tinkering with things, fixing things and working on cars. He loved to work on and fix anything some called him a jack of all trades. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and served on the USS Rowan. Jerry is survived by two sons; Kerry Adkins and wife Penny and Jerry Scott Adkins; a daughter, Teri Kielmar and husband Dave; seven grandchildren, Andy Kielmar, Shannon Grice, Allison Ahern, Jamie Haas, Ian Adkins, Seth Adkins, and Delaney Adkins; five great grandchildren with one on the way; three brothers, Earl Adkins Jr., James Robert "Bob" Adkins, and Tim Adkins; four sisters, Lois "Sis" Yates, Bonnie McLewis, Linda, and Barb; his beloved cat "Tabby". In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary (Moore) Adkins; and a sister, Sandy Adkins. His family would like to thank the staff at Concord Health and Rehabilitation for their care for Jerry in his final days. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor George Grice officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg with military graveside rights presented by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
