Jean Marcum

Jean Marcum, 81, of Eden Park died Saturday August 9, 2014 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born in 1933 in Mingo County, West Virginia to the late Christopher and Edna Spaulding. She was a graduate of Kermit High School and a former employee of Mercy Hospital before retiring from Southern Ohio Medical Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Marcum and a son-in-law Joe Pope. She is survived by daughters, Debbie Pope and Diana Marcum both of Portsmouth; a sister, Carole Ritter of Westerville, OH.; an aunt Polly Baker of Wharnton, West Virginia, several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She loved music, particularly the Blues, reading, gardening and she greatly loved her pets. She was a member of PETA and the American Rose Society. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Thursday August 14, 2014 at Greenlawn cemetery. There will be no visitation per her request. Arrangements are under the direction of D.W.
