James "Tommy" Walters

James "Tommy" Walters, 62, born on February 4, 1962, in Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away tragically at home on December 14, 2024. He was a beloved figure to many, known for his dedication as a security guard over the years and his warm spirit.

Tommy had a unique ability to connect with people, especially children, which was evident in his fondness for playing games with them and delighting in spirited Nerf gun battles. His love for life also extended to enjoying cat videos, which brought him endless joy. These cherished memories reflect the vibrant personality he embodied.

He is survived by his brother, Jeff Walters (Pam), and numerous nieces and nephews who will hold on to memories of their time spent with him, including Krystal Diaz (Matthew), Carrie Walters, Nikki Walters (Derek), Jeffery Walters (Caity), George Walters (Andrea), Matthew Haddox (Kaylee), Morgan Diaz, and his special nephew, Amenra Lisath. Tommy also leaves behind many treasured friends, who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Walters Sr. and Minerva Sue (Sparks) Walters, as well as his sister, Robin Renea Walters, and his grandmother who raised him, Ocaleen Traylor. Their memories undoubtedly shaped the compassionate spirit that Tommy demonstrated throughout his life.

A visitation will be held at Swick Bentley Funeral Home in New Boston, Ohio, on December 23, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at the same location from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Those who knew Tommy are encouraged to gather in remembrance of his life and the joy he brought into the hearts of many.
