James Thomas "Tom" Seth, 73 of New Boston, Oh, passed away at his residence after an extended illness. Tom was the son of the late James "Jim" and Hazel (Kerr) Seth. He was a 1956 graduate of Glenwood High school. Tom was a retired New Boston Firefighter, past New Boston School Board Member, and past President of the New Boston Kiwanis Little League. He was a charter member of the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, where he held many board positions and sang in several quartets and groups, his most recent being the REPS. Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tylitha "Ty" (Lewis) Seth, a daughter, Vicki (Mike) Payton of New Boston, two sons, James Thomas "Tom" Seth Jr. and Paul Jason "Jay" Seth (Dee Miller), both of New Boston. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Adam (Staci) Kurtz, James "Nathan" Seth (Ginger Horsley) and Peyton Miller, all of New Boston, and a honorary grandson, Eli Miller of New Boston. He has one great-grandaughter Olivia Kurtz of New Boston and a special niece Lisa (Lindy) Horner of Sciotoville, his sister-in-law, Melinda Conkel of Lucasville and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members that he loved. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a brother Billy (Lois) Seth and his in-laws, Othel and Dorothy Lewis, grandparents, Rev. Thomas and Rosa Kerr, David and Emma Seth and many uncles and aunts. Visitation will be at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston, Tuesday, 1pm to 3pm and 6pm to 8pm. The funeral will be at Cedar Street Church on Wednesday at 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Jones, Rev. Gary Heimbach, and Brother Stephen Hamilton will officiate with burial being in Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, Oh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to any of the following; New Boston Fire Department Fire Prevention Fund, The Faith Promise Missionary Fund at Cedar Street Church, The American Cancer Society, or Gideons International.
