James A. Medley, 71, of Portsmouth died Sun., Aug. 2, 2009 at his residence. He was born June 12, 1938 in Portsmouth, a son of the late John and Lorraine Stapleton Medley. He was a former roofing contractor, a 1958 graduate of PHS , a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Lucasville Masonic Lodge #465 and El Hasa Shrine. He is survived by seven sons, Todd (Mary) Medley of Portsmouth, James (Judy) Davis of Arizona, Larry (Kathryn) Davis, Robert (Angie) Davis, David (Vicki) Hamilton and Bruce (Mellissa) Hamilton all of Portsmouth and Mark (Shelley) Hamilton of Kentucky; four daughters, Cindy (Bill) Balach of Reynoldsburg, Beverly O'Dell of Springfield, Angela Pentheny of Lucasville and Tina (Michael) Brannigan of Wheelersburg; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Channel Medley, two sons, William Davis and Paul Hamilton and a sister, Mary Howard.Services will be 11 AM Wed., Aug. 5, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tues. 6 to 8 PM with Masonic Services at 8 PM and 10 to 11 AM Wed. at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
