James David Young, Sr

James David Young Sr, 62, of Portsmouth, passed away December 11, 2023 at Southern Ohio Medical Centers emergency room. He was born November 6, 1961 in Portsmouth, a son of Judith (Welty) Sexton of Portsmouth. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a graduate of Portsmouth High School, enjoyed fishing and woodworking. James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carrie Young; a son, James Young Jr. and Devon Young of Portsmouth; a daughter, Britney Young of West Portsmouth; three brothers, William (Karen) Young of Oak Hill, Jerry (Angie) McGlone of Portsmouth and Durward (Cathy) Chandler of McDermott; a sister Mary (Angelo) Recchia of Michigan; grandchildren, Kelsi, Bailee, Dillon, Levi, Kiera and Laren. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Devin Young and his stepfather James Sexton. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 PM Friday December 15, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with services to follow at 7 PM. Military Honors will be provided by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
