Jack D. Hewitt, 83, of New Boston died Tuesday July 9, 2013, at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born January 30, 1930, a son of the late Ellis and Annadora Gonsalez Hewitt. Jack was a 1948 Graduate of Portsmouth High School, a Korean War Veteran, a Retired United Steel Worker, and a member of the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Boston. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Hewitt of New Boston, two sons Keith Hewitt (Becky), of Cincinnati, OH. John Hewitt (Gwen) of Berne, IN. four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hewitt of New York, NY, Andy Hewitt of Charleston, SC, Courtney Givens of New York, NY and Abbey Hewitt of Berne, In. Two sisters, Annadora Oakley of Baltimore, Md., and Barbara Clevenger of Wheelersburg, OH., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers Ellis Hewitt of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Hewitt of West Portsmouth, OH, three sisters Betty Hood of Ashland, KY., Mary Jane Teeter of Baltimore, MD., and Thelma Mathena of Lancaster, PA. The funeral service will be held at the D. W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON, at 11:00 am, Friday July 12, 2013, with Reverend Gary Heimbach officiating. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Wheelersburg. The family will receive friends at the D. W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm Thursday July 11, 2013, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
