Imogene Catherine Huston, 92, of Portsmouth, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at SOMC Hospice Care Center. She was born September 19, 1917 a daughter of the late Jacob and Bertha (Bard) Yinger. She was a graduate of Glenwood High School and Rio Grand College where she earned a Teaching degree. Imogene taught in the Clay and Valley School Systems and retired from the Valley School District. She was voted Outstanding Elementary School Teacher in Ohio in 1974. She was a member of the Sciotoville Christian Church, New Boston 55 Club, AARP, a past Matron of the Wheelersburg Chapter of the Easter Star and was a life member of the Ohio State Retired Teachers Association. Imogene truly loved birds, flowers, trees, and all of nature. Imogene is survived by 2 sons, Lowell (Anita) Huston of Frendswood, TX, and David Lee Huston of Portsmouth; 1 daughter, Susan Kay Martin of Portsmouth; 2 sisters, Martha Jane Gills of Plane City and Mary Louise Bailey of Lagrange, KY; 6 grandchildren, Christen Miller, Tracy Morgan, Barbara Gable, Teresa Webb, Jennifer Schobelock, and Kendra Wasch, and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as her dog, Lucky, whom she truly loved. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Lawrence Lowell Huston whom she married in 1941 at South Point, OH; 4 brothers, Russell, Earl, Paul, and Joseph Yinger; and 2 sisters, Ilene Webber, and Regina Yinger. Serivces will be 11AM Mon., Oct. 5, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Elder Brian Enz officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 until 8 PM and Monday 10 to 11 AM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
