Hazel Irene Pizer, 96, born to William and Annie Brumfield in Boyd County, KY on April 23, 1917, has passed into the arms of our Almighty God on Dec. 13, 2013, at Concord Nursing Home in Wheelersburg. She worked at Williams Shoe Factory, several clothing factories, owned several retail businesses and did alterations for the United States Navy. She was preceded in death by William and Annie Brumfield, Robert Elza Sowards, Leonard Covey, Hestel Borders, Jerry Pizer, siblings, John, Jeff, Georgia, Victoria, Jessee, Ethel, Joe; daughter, Bessie Marie Sowards; and a grandson, John Noel. She had been a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church in New Boston and later attended EUB Church in Portsmouth. Surviving family members include a sister Maxine Dilley, daughters Patricia Noel of California, Donna Southworth of New Boston, Marilyn Hammond of Portsmouth, Carolyn and Frank Stidham of Wheelersburg and Michael and Coy Borders of Las Vegas. She also has many grand, great and great grandchildren. She will be forever missed and loved deeply by family and friends. Services will be held at D. W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
