Age 75 of Portsmouth, passed away on September 3, 2015 in Portsmouth. She was born on September 29, 1939 in Wheelersburg to John Henry and Goldie Mae (Cooper) Biars. Hazel loved her church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed country music and singing at nursing homes.
She is survived by two sons, Richard A. Hoover (Debbie) of South Webster and Dean Hoover of Portsmouth; two daughters, Darla Jo Weekly (Kenny) of Blue Creek and Nicole L. Cantrell of Portsmouth; three sisters, Janet Boggs of Ironton, Carol Kinker of Minford, Connie Stapleton of Stout; four brothers, Paul, Calvin, Ron, and Homer Biars; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Hoover; second husband, Clarence Grubb; and four brothers, Robert, Johnny, Russell, and Steve.
A private graveside service will be held at Universal Cemetery in Rubyville. Friends may call on Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston.
