Griff Spray

Estelle Griffith "Griff" Dean Spray, 93, of Sciotoville died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Best Care Nursing Center. She was born March 19, 1915 in Wayne Co, W.VA. a daughter of the late Clabe and Drusia Akers Wellman. She was a homemaker , a 33 year member of Sciotoville Christian Church and member of the Lamplighters Class. Griff is survived by two sons, Morris C. Dean and wife Mozelle of Elkview, W.VA. and Hervey M. Dean and wife Carolyn of Reidsville, NC; one daughter, Rita Carol Fick of Riverside, CA.; a sister, Agnes Judy Sutherland of Aurora Grande, CA.; three stepdaughters, Mary Kruse, Janie Taylor and Nancy Spray; her former daughter-in-law, Teresa Dean Cooney of Columbus; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Millard F. Dean, Lee Ayers and Chalis Spray; two sons, Joe N. Dean and Gary R. Dean. 4 brothers, Leo, Noah and Ernest Wellman and Oliver Morrow; 4 sisters, Nona Kilgore, Mellie Eastham, Cleo Yates and Ernestine Duncan. A special thanks to Sherri Rollins who has loved and taken care of "Griff" and is now like a member of our family. Also the staff and all the caregivers at Best Care for the special love and compassion they too have shown to our mother. Services will be 11 AM Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Art Marcum, Minister, officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and Saturday 10 to 11 AM at D.W.
