Age 81 of Portsmouth went to be with the Lord September 19, 2017 at his home He was born September 6, 1936 in New Boston to Arthur and Oral (Ash) Sisler George was a long time devoted member of North Moreland Christian Baptist Church where he was the head usher and collected cans for years to support the church breakfast program. George witnessed to many people about being a Christian while he served the church and during the hours he spent collecting cans He had an amazing memory for dates and was a WSAZ Hometown Hero.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Shoemaker of Sciotoville; nieces, Pamela Hoskins (Danny) of Dayton, Brenda Ocheskey of Wyoming, Donna Brenner of Columbus, nephews, Larry Sisler of Frankfort, John Patton of Wyoming; grand-niece, Amber Hoskins; and special friends, Paul and Janet Holbrook, Susie and Doug Munion, and the entire congregation at North Moreland Christian Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley Sissler and Algon Sisler; and one sister, Retha Madrid.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday September 24, 2017 at North Moreland Christian Church with Pastor Paul Hagen officiating Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.
