Fredrick Neal Throckmorton

Fredrick Neal Throckmorton, 90, of Portsmouth went home to be with the Lord at his home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.  He was born on May 28, 1933 in McDermott to the late Cecil and Mabel (Hilt) Throckmorton. Fred was a retired carpenter who loved building and making a difference in people’s houses.  He loved singing, reading and helping people.  Fred had a healing touch, his touch made you feel better about whatever was wrong.  He was a writer and enjoyed drawing and doodling.

Fred is survived by a son, Jeff Throckmorton of Portsmouth; a daughter, Rea Colby of Marion, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Lori Trent Throckmorton of Portsmouth, Kim Cole of McDermott, and Gayle Rogers and husband Mike of Grayson, Kentucky; two sisters, Shirley Crabtree of Big Gap, Virginia and June Spradlin of Loveland, Ohio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents Fred was preceded in death by his wife Joyce (Fry) Throckmorton on August 15, 2020; two sons, Wayne Throckmorton and Mark Throckmorton; two daughters, Ruth Andrews and Pam Hodges; two brothers, Dale Throckmorton and Truman Throckmorton. The family would like to give a special thanks to Fred’s neighbor who helped him take care of his home.
