Franklin T. Carver Jr., 91, of Portsmouth passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born to the late Franklin Carver Sr. and Pearl (Davitz) Carver on October 1, 1930 in Sciotoville. Franklin was an US Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He loved riding his scooter, watching old westerns and he loved to cook. Franklin is survived by his wife of 66 years Barbara Faye (Sparks) Carver; a son, Douglas A. Carver and wife Malinda of Portsmouth; five daughters, Kathy Jo Kalis and husband Russ of Conyers, GA, Angela Faye Barnett and husband Tim of Bogart, GA, Pamela Jean Stiltner and husband Danny of Portsmouth, Cheryl Glascock of Wheelersburg; and Sharon Williams of South Shore, KY; nine grandchildren, Danny Scaggs of Monroe, MI, Ryan Hightower of Portsmouth, Sarah Bowen and husband Mark of Watkinsville, GA, Amy Hightower of Portsmouth, Jayr Kalis of Key West, FL, Scott Kalis and wife Asia of Covington, GA, David Carver of Portsmouth, Alisha Jenkins and husband Mark of Portsmouth, and Aubree Barnett of Bogart, GA; thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Frankie Carver. Friends may call Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston and one hour prior to the services which will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Phillip Ruark officiating. Interment will follow at Universal Cemetery in Rubyville. With military graveside honors provided by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion #23.
