Flossie Waneda Miller, 88, of Minford died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Heritage Square in New Boston, Ohio following a long illness. She and her husband had made their home in the Minford area for over 50 years. She was born August 19, 1922 in Big Run, West Virginia to the late James Hugh and Susanna Magalena (Yost) Willey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Bull" Miller in 1988, whom she married November 21, 1936 in Pinegrove, West Virginia. Flossie was the youngest of 12, all preceeding her in death: brothers, James, Burl, Bruce, Tom and George; sisters, Bess Vanruff, Opal Stoneking, Lennie Shreves, Mary Conley, Rachael Willey and Florence Rice Long. She is survived by two daughters, Delores (Dee) Penix and Maxine (Elbie) Mathis; five grandchildren: Susan Wellman of Sciotoville, whom she raised, Cynthia Wellman, David Wellman (Tami), Karen Hill Collett and Paul Penix, Jr. (Mary) all of Portsmouth; four great-grandchildren, Abrienne Hill of Nashville, TN., Morgan Penix, Brook Penix and Jacob Wellman all of Portsmouth. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 18, 2010 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Ralph Clay officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 7 PM and Monday 10 to 11 AM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
