Ernest "Butch" Loper

Age 68 of New Boston, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV He was born August 15, 1948 in Portsmouth to Carl F. and Juanita (Nichols) Loper Butch graduated from West Portsmouth High School in 1966 He was married to Lana Williams on September 2, 1967 in Portsmouth Butch had recently been working as a medical transporter for Unity One Home Care. He loved reading, sports, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lana; two sons, Shane Loper (Debbie) of Portsmouth, Todd Loper (Jennifer) of Farmville, NC; two daughters, Missy Jenkins (Scott) of Wheelersburg, Heather Howard (Josh) of Wheelersburg; grandchildren, Jimmy Carr (Janna), Jamie Eichenlaub (Jim), Matt Jenkins, Kelsey Jenkins, Jordan Howard, Cameron Howard, Jared Thomas, Ava Loper, Mallory Loper, Mason Loper; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Eichenlaub, Maelyn and Laney Carr; two brothers, Carl Loper (Kim) of Portsmouth, Jerry Loper (Janie) of Sciotoville; brother-in-law, Junior Williams (Laura) of New Boston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul Rowe (Pam) of Hiram, GA; special friends, Ron and Donna Blankenship of West Portsmouth.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary (Kitty) Rowe; brother Terry Loper; son, Matthew Loper; great-grandson, James “Peanut” Eichenlaub.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016 at D.W.
