Elmon C. Hutchinson, 84, 0f Sciotoville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Elmon was born on December 18, 1925 in Johnson County, Kentucky, a son of the late Claude and Sadie Mullins Hutchinson. He served in the US Navy aboard the Navy Destroyer, USS Murray in the South Pacific during World War II. Elmon was a member of the Bonser Run Christian Baptist for many years where he held many offices and served as a deacon for 29 years. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 577 for 50 plus years. Elmon loved travel, woodworking, hunting, fishing, but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Marguerite (Noel) Hutchinson;a daughter, Mary Letha (Jack) Strickland of Sciotoville; a son, Mike (Jeanette) Hutchinson of Flatwoods, KY.;a sister, Wanda (Lanny) Sturgill of Matthews, SC; grandchildren, Greg (Brooke) Strickland of Chillicothe, Sandy (Darren) Lore of Sciotoville, Keri (Brandon) Sherman of Minford, Micah (Jon) Gussler of Winchester, KY., Matthew (Brandy) Hutchinson of Flatwoods, KY., Brad (Courtney) Kifer of Columbus and Allison Kifer of Hilton Head, SC; great grandchildren, Alicia (Kevin) Hay, Brandon Strickland, Jaclyn Strickland, Brandon Entler, Brody Entler, Fayth Lore, Samuel Lore, Kourtney Sherman, Karleigh Sherman, Mason Gussler, Riley Gussler, Marley Hutchinson, Paige Hutchinson, baby Gussler due in July and great great granddaughter, McKenna Grace Hay. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Clotene Hutchinson and a nephew, Stephen Sturgill. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church with services being conducted by Elmon's family members and his Pastors, Rev. Gordon Boggs and Rev. Danny Deck. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday 5 to 8 PM at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston and 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church Building Fund.
