Ellen Lawson

Ellen C. Lawson, 85, of New Boston died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at Best Care. Ellen was born Aug. 5, 1926 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Rev. Cecil and Ermie Lawson. Ellen had worked for the former Williams Shoe Factory and was a Sunday School Teacher, Janitor and did visitations at the 7Th Street Christian Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. Ellen is survived by 3 neices and 2 nephews and many friends. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Rosalie Ingles and Catherine Callender and 2 brothers, Troy Lawson and Richard Lawson. The family would like to convey their appreciation to Ellens caregivers, SOMC Hospice and Best Care for their loving care of Ellen. Services will be Sunday Sept. 4, 2011 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Hector Reffit officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday 5 to 8 PM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
