Edward "Red" Thomas, 93, of Wheelersburg, formerly of New Boston died Saturday Dec. 13, 2014 at Best Care Nursing Center. He was born June 10, 1921 in Morgan Co., KY. a son of the late Lee and Dora Jennings Thomas. He attended New Boston First Church of The Nazarene, was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WW II, and was a graduate of Glenwood High School. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Silver Eagle Archery Club and National Rifle Assoc. Ed is survived by several nieces and nephews, Paul Thomas of Ashland, KY., Betty Hamer of Portsmouth, Gary Thomas of Groveland, Fla., Patricia Williams of Wheelersburg, Michael Thomas of Milton, Fla., Terry Thomas of Columbus, Keith Thomas of West Union, Shirley Owens of Ashland, OH., Juanita Terry and Brenda Apel both of Wheelersburg and Wilma Evans of Melbourne, Fla. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Thomas and 3 sisters, Myrtle Conley, Edna Sparks and Edith Perry. Services will be 10 AM Wednesday Dec. 17, 2014 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Pastor Paul Hagen officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday 9 to 10 AM at the funeral home. Condolences to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
