Age 85 of New Boston, passed away peacefully October 31, 2015 at Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth. She was born November 23, 1929 in New Boston to Claude and Betty (Williams) Taylor She worked for 25 years as a department head at Hart Family Center/Big Bear in Rosemount Edith was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed watching games with her grandson Ryan or listening on the radio on her favorite spot, the back porch On a good day she attended home games at Glenwood High School watching her great-grandson Parker play sports She was lovingly known as “Aunt Edie” by many people in New Boston. She loved her family very much from Michigan, Baltimore and New Smyrna, Florida.

Edith is survived by two sons, Johnnie Keith Steele of New Boston, Richard Steele (Nancy) of Piketon; one daughter, Johna Sue Linley (Don) of Columbus; one sister, Anna Kinney of New Smyrna Beach, FL; one brother, Harry (Bub) Spearry (Judy) of New Smyrna, Florida; special friend, Joyce Holland of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Ryan Steele, John Rowe, Richard Keith Canaster, Tom Lamerson, Ted Lamerson, and Leah Steele; one great-granddaughter Markayla; many nieces and nephews, including John Kevin Bush whom she raised She was preceded in death by her husband, John who she married September 21, 1951 in Greenup, KY; one brother, Claude (Moke) Taylor; five sisters, Mildred Couch, Ida Ash, Louise Grandstaff, Sara Fry, Patty Bush; two grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Mark Bales officiating Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg Friends may call Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service Online condolences may be made to www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
