Dorothy Ann Adkins

Dorothy Ann Adkins, 86, of New Boston, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at SOMC Hospice Center.  She was born November 9, 1935 in Carter County, Ky to the late Earl and Hazel (Fannin) McCleese.  Dorothy worked as a retail clerk at Glad Tidings Christian Book Store, Blanton’s Market and Fashion Bug.  Dorothy loved to read, especially study her Bible.  She was a prayer warrior and enjoyed praying.  Dorothy loved to cook and spend time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lute of New Boston; a brother, Jimmy McCleese of Southington; a sister, Nova Prise of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Scott Lute and wife Donna, Staci Kurtz and husband Adam, and Andrew Montgomery all of New Boston; six great grandchildren, Kelcie Benner and husband Jacob, Olivia Kurtz, Callie Kurtz, Maci Kurtz, Korben Lute and Wyatt Lute all of New Boston; a special friend Jamie Newman of Portsmouth.  Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Adkins; a daughter, Kendra Campbell; two sisters, Louise Bear and Phyllis Bentley.  The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of SOMC HOSPICE for the wonderful care she received the last few months.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 (NOON) Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Lorenzo Bentley officiating.  Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg.  Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
